Sat St Helens, then on to Mt Rainier

Phil and Lorna's digs in Washington State, home base for Phil as he commutes to a GP mill in Oregon not too terribly far from Portland.

 Mt. St. Helens from the Johnson observation area.  That big missing section is the piece that slid down just before the eruption in 1980.

 Here we are, mountain in the background, proof we were there.

  Still a little steam and vapor coming from a few vents, this thing is not at all dormant, it will erupt again, who knows when? 

  This is a view of the blast area from the eruption, 35 years later, not much growing yet..
