Day 2 BC Ferry, Northern Expedition, Sun 10-11-15

Day 2 on the ferry - looks like another lovely day.....

A waterfall cascading into the sound - there will be lots, lots more of these.
Our twin screw german-built ferry rollin' at about 18 kts. Mountains into the sea back there...
A few waterfalls, all different ones - must have been raining, eh?

Humpback whale, kept flopping its tail into the water, sounded just like a beaver's tail strike, only much, much louder.    Whale clearly not troubled by the weather.
Mountain view from the ferry....
ditto

The water streaks are tidal currents as our vessel does a narrow passage, ghostly wisps of cloud in the forested hillside.  I was expecting to see dwarfs and Bilbo Baggins at any time, or at least a dragon, but sadly none of that appeared, even though the scenery seemed perfect....
Mariners would call this "steep to", not exactly broad, shallow beaches here, this is really steep terrain to the sea.
A barge passing, mountain after mountain in the misty rain.

The vessel's builder's info, german, 2009.  God save the queen, eh?
Freshening up a bit now - forgot to mention we caught the tail end of a hurricane that had previously passed by Hawaii.  Winds were 40kts, seas offshore 6-8 meters, a bit choppy, eh?
An unsettling view from a window, it gets a bit tight in some of the passage areas....
Welcome to Prince Rupert - paper mills, a smelter, pouring rain, cold.....a Canadian paradise if ever there was one.....
