Long Beach, Pacific Rim national park - cool, windy, starkly beautiful. Long, long tidal flats, this is low tide, it's all underwater in just a few more hours.....

Now that's a beach.... looking south, doesn't it look warmer in the south? Sure....
That little island with a few evergreen trees looks like it belongs in the St. Lawrence.
Louise likes it here - note the shadow, this is to be our last sunny day for a while....
Now moving north on the island, here's a typical view from roadside, multiple mountains in falling light..
Kinda rough and rocky terrain, no wonder the big cats like it - easy prey (deer), no natural enemies..

The Miata stops for a break alongside a stream, little hill in the background. It's still running, leaking a little oil, clutch getting a little soft, can we make it? Florida only a few more miles away....
The drought is hitting here too - this is a very low flow stream bed...
A few strange shots of mountains in the distance in falling light conditions... Looking east over the Straits Georgia to the Rocky Mountains and were we will be next week.
This is our campsite from last night, Oct 6th '15. Tarp to save us from rains, which arrived a few hours after this photo. We are here tonight, then tomorrow on to Port Hardy BC for two nites in a B&B, as 6 inches of rain is predicted, no fun camping, that.. John and I had a bit of a discussion regarding the purchase of a trap... I prevailed and we were both happy this morning, the tent was nice and dry!!
Then Sat the 10th we leave on a 22 hr ferry to Prince Rupert BC, across from southern tip of Alaska. Then we RUN south as fast as we can, as winter in the NorthWest will be on our heels....
The Ferry will go via the inside passage... we have a cabin and are looking forward to this!
Starkly beautiful country , love the beach but it does look cold ! Safe travels !
